Artist Statement

I am a multidisciplinary photographer with experience across a range of genres, including portrait and landscape photography. In my portrait work, I aim to empower individuals through the creative use of silhouettes, colour, and light installations, creating a dynamic interplay between subject, object, and environment. My research centres on the ethics of PhotoVoice, a participatory approach to portraiture that emphasises user-oriented representation. This methodology allows the people I photograph to have agency in how they are seen, ensuring that their voices are central to the images we create together. Establishing a safe, inclusive, and collaborative studio environment is key to my process – I prioritise making sure participants feel confident, respected, and involved in shaping their own visual narrative. Beyond photography, I am also drawn to installation art and the act of capturing it through the lens. Immersive environments offer audiences a brief escape from reality and an opportunity to connect with the artist’s vision, something I seek to reflect and amplify through my photographic practice.
